January Bible Reading Challenge

We launched our January Bible Reading Challenge last Wednesday, but I wanted to communicate what we are doing to parents and clarify a couple things for the youth and leaders. The goal this month is to encourage not just reading the Scriptures, but making observations of what you read and doing it in community with others. So, participants are challenged to read a section of Scripture together with another person (at least a paragraph or from one section heading to another). Then, they need to share one insight, observation or question from their reading with the other person. There is no limit on how many times you do this per day with different people, but you can only get points for doing it with the same person once/day. If done in a group, you will only get one point per reading/sharing, but everyone in the group would get a point if everyone shares an insight. For this month, the teams are going to be youth vs. adults. The adult team includes youth leaders + parents + grandparents. Challenge ends January 31st. Additional rule: participants are expected to add their ping pong balls to the collectors in the Soul Garage each Wednesday rather than waiting to the end of the month to add your entire earnings.

Regular youth group this Wednesday, January 10th as we continue our study of Revelation. Remember to bring your paper Bibles and a notebook and pen to take notes. Doors open at 5:45pm. Programming starts at 6:15pm with an optional game time 8-8:30pm at the end of the night.

Keep an eye out for an email coming soon with final details for Districts!
