Final Youth Group for the School Year

Wednesday, May 24th is the final youth group of the school year at the Soul Garage.  We have a full night of fun, food and activities planned.  We hope you can join us!

Come early to enjoy some food (chicken enchiladas, chips & shave ice) and extra game time starting any time after 6:00pm.

We will also be taking our annual group photo shortly after 7:00pm, so make sure you are there to get in on the photo for the wall.

If you have not attempted to escape from our escape room yet, come by 5:45pm to join the group going through the room.

We also have an End of Year Survey that can be taken online.  We would love to have all the youth fill this out before the end of the day Wednesday.  You can do it on your own or take 5-10 minutes during the night to fill out the survey using your own smart phone or using one of the computers we will have set up.  This will give us helpful feedback as we work to improve the ministry.  Here is the link to the survey: https://www.cognitoforms.com/TheSoulGarage1/EndOfYearSurvey

If you would like to add a little EXTRA fun to your night, take the dress up challenge and come dressed up like one of your favorite youth leaders!

Community Service Project Feb 1st

restore_h4h

On Wednesday, February 1st, 2017, we will NOT have our regular youth group gathering at the Soul Garage. INSTEAD, we have a very exciting opportunity to put our faith into action by serving the poor in our own local community through a vital service project at the new Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Rice Lake.

The Barron County ReStore has been relocated to the strip mall across from Gordy’s Market immediately next door to Pet Supplies Plus.  This is the same area that has Cabin Coffee, Little Caesars, and the Old Southern BBQ Smokehouse. The address is 2500B S. Main St., Rice Lake.  It is only 1 minute from the Soul Garage.

Parents, please plan to drop off your youth at the ReStore and pick them up directly from the ReStore as we will not be shuttling youth back and forth.  You may drop them off as early as 5:45pm if you have other children to get to Awana by 6:00pm.

Pizza and water bottles will be provided between 5:45-6:15pm at the ReStore location.  PLEASE plan to arrive as close to 6:00pm as possible to maximize the time we have to serve.

Here are a few details to be aware of:

  • ALL youth MUST have a waiver signed in order to volunteer.  Waivers are attached (one for minors and one for those 18 or older).  Click minor-form for minors.  Click adult-form for those 18 or older.
  • Parents are strongly encouraged to join their teens on this special night and serve together.
  • Community service hours can be gained through this project for school e-portfolio credit or other.
  • Work boots are preferred, but sneakers are acceptable as well. No flip-flops or sandals!
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting ruined or dirty – there is a chance they could get ripped or stained.
  • Bring work gloves if you have some.

Last week, Andre challenged everyone to see if they could remember the lies we’ve addressed during our series “The Lies We Believe & The Truth That Frees”.  If you can tell him each of the lies, he might have a treat for you!  Here’s a cheat sheet to help prepare you:

  • Sept 28: Pt 1: God is Holding Out on Me (Adam & Eve)
  • Oct 5: Pt 2: My Worth is Determined by my Performance (Psalm 139)
  • Oct 12: Pt 3: I Deserve To Be Treated Fairly/Right to Revenge (Jacob & Esau)
  • Oct 19: Pt 4: I’m Better Off Keeping My Sins a Secret (David & Bathsheba)
  • Oct 26: Pt 5: I Don’t Need God (King Nebuchadnezzar)

September 21st will be our first regular night in the Soul Garage!

September 28th we have a special night planned called Parent Night where we will be inviting parents to come join us for the entire night so you can see what we are all about and also meet for 20 minutes alone with Pastor Tony to hear the vision God has given him for the youth group and ask any questions you may have.  Partnering with parents is a priority for us at the Soul Garage and this is one way we hope to strengthen that partnership, so please join us if you can!
