Youth Event @ Red Cedar

The Soul Garage Fall Kickoff Event will be on September 14th at Maranatha.

But all middle school and high school youth are invited to an free event hosted by Red Cedar Church on September 7th from 6-8pm.  For more details check out the poster below.  We love to partner with other like-minded churches in the community to reach young people with the good news of the Gospel, so we are happy to help promote this event.  This will be a great event to invite friends to attend, especially if they do not yet know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Acts Series: Part 1

Come join us for our new Soul Garage series exploring the book of Acts and wrestling through the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives today.  The series starts this Wednesday, April 5th!  Have you ever wondered about any of these questions:

  • What is the role of the Holy Spirit?
  • Do all Christians have the Holy Spirit?
  • What does it mean to be baptized by the Holy Spirit?
  • If you have the Holy Spirit should you speak in tongues?
  • Why doesn’t the Holy Spirit lead me in the same dramatic ways as He led the early Christians?
  • Can Christians lose the Holy Spirit?

The book of Acts is one of the most exciting books in the Bible.  Crazy things happened as the Gospel message took root in peoples lives and radical transformation happened.  The Church was growing and the Gospel was spreading across the world.  The Holy Spirit was moving and lives were being changed.  Come with your questions and a willingness to dig in to what the Scriptures will teach us.

Youth Group RESUMES Jan 6!

The Gospel According to Luke

I pray that you all had a great Christmas and New Year’s!  For those joining us at Districts, we are only a few days away.  Make sure to read the email we sent out Saturday night with important information about the District Youth Conference!

Regular youth group resumes this week on Wednesday, January 6th.  We will begin a new teaching series exploring the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ through the book of Luke.  During this series we will focus on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

The following Wednesday, January 13th will be a special joint 7th-12th grade Open Mic Night at the Soul Garage. Come prepared to be real and share what God is doing in your life.  There will be no formal teaching time on the 13th.  Come prepared to share about how you hope to grow spiritually this year or how you plan to apply the teachings from Districts to your daily life here at home.

GOSPEL Series: Part 5

EVERYONE Who Trusts in Christ Alone Has Eternal Life!

On Wednesday, October 21st we will be exploring this important, life changing truth in our GOSPEL Series.

Salvation is available to EVERYONE.

Trusting in Christ is more than intellectual assent.  Saving faith is like the faith Mr. Jones displays in the video clip above.  It requires our full weight, not just our intellectual assent.

It’s not trusting in Christ PLUS something else.  It’s through Christ ALONE that we can be saved.

GOSPEL Series: Part 4

Flogging Jesus2

We are in week 4 of our series through the GOSPEL Acrostic.  The main point is this: Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again!

This is TRULY GOOD NEWS!  We have looked at some depressingly bad news the past two teachings: Our sins separate us from God and Sins cannot be removed by good deeds.  The news went from bad to worse.

But, glory to God, the story did not end there.  God created a way where there seemed to be no way.  God sent his one and only Son to be the Savior of the world.  Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life.  He died a criminal’s death – the most humiliating death imaginable in the Roman world – on a cross in our place.  But the grave could not hold Him down.  He rose again victorious, conquering sin and death and making a way for us to be reconciled to our Creator.  God’s wrath was appeased through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  Let us never take for granted what Christ did on our behalf.

May we respond by surrendering our lives COMPLETELY to Christ as Lord and Savior!

GOSPEL Series: Part 2

small sins have big consequences

On Wednesday, September 23rd we will continue our GOSPEL Series by reflecting on the consequence of sin.  We will be exploring the question: “What’s the big deal about sin anyway?”

This week’s message: Our sins separate us from Him.

Last week’s message: God created us to be in a relationship with Him

If you missed it or just want to watch it again, check out the Skit Guys Video from last week below called God’s Chisel Remastered.  You can purchase your own copy at  I would encourage you to watch it every day for a week or more until you begin to truly believe that you were created on purpose for a purpose, created in the image of God, created to be in a relationship with God, not pursuing the things of this world.

Reminder that Fall Retreat numbers are being finalized this week.

Reminder that Saturday is the Pregnancy Help Center Bike for Life event at the Fairgrounds.  Grab your bike and come ride with me around the track and check out the silent auction items.

G.O.S.P.E.L Series: Part 1

What is the overall message of the Bible?  Can you explain it to a friend in 1 minute?  Do you understand it for yourself?  During this series, we will be exploring what the Gospel Message from the Bible is and learn how to share this life-changing message with those God has placed in our lives using a couple simple tools.

Check out this video that summarizes the Gospel message in a creative Spoken Word format by the artist Propaganda:

Lessons From Chicago (Josiah Gander)

The training really helped me with my spiritual growth and how you would share the gospel with nonbelievers and people growing with Christ in the real world.

Leading a kid to Christ was an eye-opening experience because it taught me that there are different stages in becoming a Christian.

And it was an amazing experience watching Christ work in the kids.  Getting to see a youth group love one another was amazing to see also.
