Thank you for your prayers for our group of youth and leaders that are currently in Kansas City for the EFCA National Youth Conference (aka: Challenge).  This is our first update since my attempt was unsuccessful last night.

We had a safe trip down and actually arrived slightly ahead of schedule in Kansas City.  We enjoyed a lunch stop at Chick-fil-A restaurant in Des Moines, Iowa where we ran into a guy wearing a Chris Kroeze t-shirt who lives in Cameron, WI!  It’s a small world.

Upon arriving in KC, we registered our group and checked into the hotel before heading out to bond as a team over Kansas City BBQ.  Almost everyone on the team agreed it was some of the best food we have ever eaten (except for everyone’s mom’s cooking, of course!)

For the first worship and teaching session we worshipped with Urban Rescue and heard the Word preached from Ben Stuart.  Both the worship time and the teaching time were incredible.

Following the teaching time (Gathering) we had time together as a group to discuss what we learned and to begin sharing our stories with each other.  2-4 people from our group will be sharing a short portion of their life story with the group as a way to be intentional in getting to know each other at a deeper level.  Kaylin Kargus and Hope Loew were the brave young ladies to go first.

During the late night, some of the group enjoyed exploring some of the great recreation options they have available including volleyball, GaGa ball, 9-Square-In-the-Air, Dart Tag, and more.

Some sleep was received.  Praise God for air conditioning.

Today (Tuesday) was very full, but very good.  We were led in worship by the band Seventh Hour and taught this morning by Chris Brown.  We had some great discussion and heard from Caleb Peterson and Ayden Wenzel about their life story.  Some of the group attended some afternoon equipping labs (seminars on various topics). The evening teaching was from Reid Kapple.

The theme for today was KNEEL.  We looked at how Jesus served his own disciples by washing their feet and we saw how Jesus kneeled before the will of the Father as he resisted the temptation from Satan at the beginning of his ministry.

Thanks for all your prayers!
