God Judges Sin

In week three (Nov. 18) of our Bigger and Better Series at the Soul Garage we are reflecting on the wrath and judgment of God.

We don’t like to talk about this aspect of God, but God is not only a God who is Great and Holy, but He is also a God who judges sin!  Because of God’s utter holiness, He cannot and will not tolerate sin, even in the smallest degree.  Sin demands judgment.  We too often emphasize character traits of God that make us feel good and comfort us, such as his love and compassion and his slowness to anger and his mercy and grace.  However, it is vitally important that we understand God is also a God of wrath and justice and judgment.  He punishes sin and expects His followers to take sin seriously, otherwise there will certainly be grave consequences as there were for Korah, Dathan & Abiram in Numbers 16.

May we be people who take sin in our lives seriously and are quick to repent and confess our sins to God who promises in 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
