As of Friday, January 30th, the ice caves are still NOT accessible. The adventure trip will be postponed until the caves are accessible. I will check regularly and select a new date as soon as I learn that the caves are accessible. Stay tuned….
As of today, January 27th, the ice caves are NOT YET accessible. Most likely, our ice caves adventure trip tentatively scheduled for this Saturday, January 31st will be rescheduled to sometime in February. I will make a final decision by Friday morning and make a post on the website here to update everyone interested. If you have never been, you need to plan to join us and invite some friends. It was a pretty sweet experience last winter for all the guys who went.
Starting January 21st, we will be beginning a new teaching series in the Soul Garage that will take us through the Apostle John’s letters to the early Church. John likely spent his teen years walking with Jesus, eating food with him, learning directly from him and watching him suffer and die before reuniting with him after Jesus rose from the dead.
Wouldn’t it be great to sit down with John and ask him what it was like to walk with Jesus and talk with Jesus in person? During this series, we will dig in to the Word of God given to us through the Apostle John and learn about the basics of the faith.
Bring your personal Bible and be prepared to hear from God as we embark on this journey together between now and the end of March.
This week we also have the privilege of hearing from our new Senior Pastor, Cody Kargus, as he shares from his heart about being a FREAK! Come find out what Pastor Cody is a FREAK about, but be careful because his excitement and passion may be contagious.
If you have a friend that does not have a church home or a youth group they are connected with, invite them to come hang out with us this new year in the Soul Garage!
What is God doing in your life? What did God teach you at the District Youth Conference? What is a challenge God has brought you through this year? How do you want to grow closer to God in 2015?
Come prepared to share a response to one of those questions with others this Wednesday, January 14th at the Soul Garage for our Open Mic Night. Small Groups run from 6:00-7:00pm. Youth group will run from 7:00-9:00pm.
We will also have the opportunity to hear from our new Senior Pastor, Cody Kargus. This will be a special joint youth group with junior high and senior high together.
We need your Districts 2015 photos to add to our highlight video we hope to have ready by Friday, so email Pastor Tony at firstname.lastname@example.org and he will send you a link to a dropbox folder where you can upload your photos. Thanks!
Soul Garage leaders and youth, if you attended Districts this past weekend, please take some time to fill out the survey we have created. Your feedback is used every year to help us make Districts a better experience for everyone. We would greatly appreciate your input. Pastor Tony guarantees to give everyone who fills it out a high five or fist bump as a thank you!
Some questions have been asked about what electronic technology devices are allowed this weekend at Districts. We have clarified our expectations on three important areas in the attached document (lights out, technology, and caffeine). ALL youth and leaders attending Districts should read this document before loading the bus tomorrow. We strongly believe these guidelines will help everyone get the most out of the $150 investment you have made to attend this conference.
