Chicago Mission Trip Update 3

The Chicago trip is finished! We all made it safely back home. During the VBS, eight children and one volunteer youth from Christ Our Savior Church prayed to accept Jesus as their Savior. Fourteen children who came to the VBS were not connected to the church in any way. We’re all very grateful to have been given the opportunity to teach the Gospel in a fun way to children from the neighborhood. Our group also took official and unofficial tours of Christian colleges in the area and explored downtown Chicago, visiting Millennium Park and Sears Tower. On Sunday we said our tearful goodbyes to those from the COSC church and on the way back home we debriefed and gave everyone the opportunity to encourage one another and help each other know in what areas we can grow. We’re all looking forward to doing this again next year!  ~Melanie Zens

Chicago Mission Trip Update 2

It is our second day at Christ Our Saviour Church and we are continuing to grow closer together with our brothers and sisters in Christ with this church family. Today we had 8 new kids that were not from the church attend VBS bringing the total number of children participating today to 38. We would ask that you would pray for all the kids attending, but especially for these children who are not connected to the church. We also learned that one of our team members had the chance to sit down with a little girl and share the gospel.  The young girl prayed to receive Christ! Today after our VBS session was over our missions team had the privilege to assist the Inner City Impact ministry in chaperoning their children to the different stations and assisting them in keeping the kids focused.  We praise God for all the things that he is doing through us and all the things he has in store.

Chicago Mission Trip Update 1

Our first day of VBS at Christ Our Saviour Church in Chicago went very well thanks to a lot of hard work by everyone involved and a lot of prayer. We praise God for the 30 children that participated today! Our team is very tired with all the energy it has required to set up and decorate and plan for today, but there is also a lot of excitement. It has been fun to see our team connect and partner so well with the youth and adults from Christ Our Saviour Church. We have enjoyed some fun times and laughs together amidst all the hard work. Thank you to all who are praying for us and for the Gospel to be made clear and for the Word of God not to come back void. Please pray that our incentive for bringing new friends is effective. Check out some photos of the fun so far!
