Fun Night @ Skate City

Skate City copy

Wednesday, April 30th, we will meet at Skate City from 7-9pm for a fun night of skating and hanging out instead of meeting at the Soul Garage.  Skating and rentals will be provided at no cost to you, but bring some cash if you want to buy snacks or play in the arcade.

Hope to see you and your friends there!

Passover Seder Celebration: Take 2

There is rain, but NO snow in the forecast today, so we are a GO for celebrating the Passover Seder Meal tonight, April 23rd for youth group at the Soul Garage instead of small groups.  We will be sitting on rugs, cushions, and pillows on the floor at round tables similar to how Jesus and his disciples would have done it.  Everyone is asked to wear jeans or pants since we will be on the floor, not on chairs.  There will be hangout time 7:00-7:30 and the Seder will start at 7:30 so those helping with the Awana Carnival can join us at 7:30.  Most of the Seder is a symbolic meal, but we will eat some Matzo Ball Soup and Flourless Chocolate Cake Michelle is making.  Need I say more?  It should be a great time entering into Jewish culture to better understand the incredible significance of the Passover and Jesus being the Ultimate Passover Lamb whose shed blood allows us to be reconciled with God the Father.  See you tonight!

Youth Group Cancelled April 16th

Winter Storm Warning copy

Oh, the weather outside is frightful….but the chocolate cake we were going to serve you tonight for the Passover Seder is delightful.

Even so, I am bummed to say that Youth Group is cancelled tonight, April 16th.  We will likely reschedule the Passover Seder meal so look for information about that.  Mission Trip applications can be turned in Sunday or next Wednesday.  Application deadline will be extended to April 23rd.  Stay home and stay safe.

Everyone is invited to the Good Friday service at Maranatha at 7pm and Easter Services are at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00am this Sunday.  Hope to see you there!

Palm Sunday Breakfast Fundraiser

This Sunday, April 13th, from 7:30-11:00am the Soul Garage Student Ministry will be cooking a French Toast breakfast for the Maranatha EFC congregation.  All proceeds will go to offset the cost of our summer missions trip to Chicago to partner with Christ Our Savior Church in running an outreach focused VBS July 11-20, 2014.  Student volunteers are needed to help setup, cook, serve, and clean up.  If you didn’t already sign up, please email Pastor Tony what shift you plan to help with.  There will also be whole cheesecake apple pies and whole ham & cheese quiches for sale while supplies last.  New items on the menu this year include oatmeal and ham & cheese quiche (including a gluten free option of quiche).

Volunteer Shifts

  • Shift 1: 7:00am-9:00am
  • Shift 2: 8:30am-10:30am
  • Shift 3: 10:00am-12:00pm

7th-12th grade students are asked to come for one or more shift.  Report to the kitchen or the Gathering Place when you arrive for your assignment.  If you attend another church Sunday morning or are unavailable Sunday for another reason, we could use some help Saturday morning from 9-noon prepping food and finishing the setup in the Gathering Place.  Looking forward to having you help out as we serve the rest of the church.
